Warriors 2010 Summer Lacrosse
Warriors Lacrosse will host a youth summer lacrosse program for all boys in rising 5th through rising 9th grades. This program is open to all boys in that age group, regardless of experience or where they played in the spring. This is a great program for boys of all experience levels. New players will be taught the fundamentals; experienced players will be able to sharpen their skills while getting a lot of playing time through scrimmaging.
The goal of this program is to provide an opportunity to improve as a lacrosse player, while having fun playing lacrosse during the off-season.
- Season dates are June 22 through July 29
- Sessions will be held every Tuesday & Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
- Locations are to be determined, but will be Henrico County Parks & Recreation facilities
- Cost is $145 per player; $100 for goalies. Each player will receive a t-shirt.
- Players must provide their own equipment.
- Prizes will be given out each night (hats, shirts, shorts, etc.).
Registration
Online registration will be open from 5/09/2010 - 6/30/2010.
Structure
Sessions will be split into two parts. The first 30 minutes or so will focus on developing skills and fundamentals through drills and instructional sessions. The rest of the time will be spent on game situations and strategies, along with a lot of full-field scrimmaging. No experience is necessary. New players are welcome and encouraged to come learn how to play lacrosse. Our coaches will teach you how to play lacrosse.
While this program is structured, it is pretty informal with a relaxed atmosphere. There are no assigned teams - the coaches plan each session according to the group of kids that are present. Since it is the summer time, we understand a lot of people will travel and miss some of the dates.
Equipment
To fully participate in this program, players will need to have all of the mandatory equipment, including stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and arm pads. Players are responsible for their own equipment and the Club does not provide any. Please see the Equipment page for more information on equipment.

Players
As mentioned above, this program is open to all boys. We typically have players from several different teams and programs in the area. Last summer, In addition to our own Warriors Lacrosse players, we also had kids from other area lacrosse programs including: Tuckahoe, St. Christopher's, Collegiate, Shady Grove YMCA, and Ashland/Patrick Henry. We feel that this is a great benefit of this program as kids will get to meet and play with kids from other schools and programs that they may face next spring. This really helps to build good sportsmanship among the different lacrosse teams in the area.
