Warriors Lacrosse mandates that all coaches are members of US Lacrosse and complete the US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaches Education Program.  We take great pride in the fact that all of our coaches have completed some level of training through US Lacrosse.

Here is a preliminary look at the Warriors Lacrosse Club 2009 Coaching Staff:


High School Varsity

Steve Shoul - Head Coach
Steve has been coaching for West End Lacrosse for the past three years. His experience includes coaching the West End JV team in 2006, the Eagles JV team in 2007, the U-13 and U-15 teams in the fall of 2007, and also has helped run the West End Lacrosse summer league programs the past two years. Steve played lacrosse at Calvert Hall High School in the lacrosse hotbed of Towson, MD, and has played on several post-collegiate club teams.

Dan Panas - Assistant Coach
Dan started coaching for West End Lacrosse in the spring of 2007 with the middle school team. He played at Henninger High School in Syracuse, NY and at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. During college, he worked summers coaching youth lacrosse camps for his high school and at Syracuse University, Hobart College, and the University of Maryland. After graduation, he spent 2 years as an assistant coach for his alma mater, Clarkson. Dan earned a number of honors in his collegiate career, including 1985 ICAC Rookie of the Year, 3 time all-ICAC and a 1987 All-American selection. He is 4th on Clarkson's career scoring list with 193 points and ranks 9th in NCAA Division III history in assists per game and 20th in points per game.


Boys Middle School Gold - "A" Team

John Zaudtke - Head Coach
This will be John’s third season coaching with Warrior Lacrosse. John played for Georgetown Prep High School in Maryland, where he earned defensive player of the year honors. At Hampden-Sydney College John played for 4 years, which included 1 ODAC Championship and 3 trips to the NCAA tournament. He also played for the Chevy Chase Lacrosse Club in MD for 3 years after college, coached youth lacrosse for 2 years in Burtonsville, MD, and also has 2 years of officiating experience.

Rick Fegan - Head Coach - Offense
This will be Rick's second year with Warriors Lacrosse after taking last season off to welcome his first child.  Rick also played for Georgetown Prep and went on to start all four years at Randolph Macon College in Ashland.  Rick then played a couple years with the Chevy Chase Lacrosse Club before moving to Richmond.  It is great to have Rick back on the sideline.

Boys Middle School Black - "B" Team

Andrew Rose - Head Coach
Andrew is in his third year coaching with Warriors Lacrosse club and is a player that has come back.  Andrew played lacrosse for 9 years at local teams such as Geronimo, Steward School, Benedictine, and WLC.  He was a great goalie and a tremendous asset to the program!  Welcome back Andrew.

Nick Gomez - Head Coach


Boys Middle School White Team - "u-13" Team

Worth Bugg
- Worth is a Richmond native that has gone through the Warriors Lacrosse system and is now back to coach for the first time. Worth played on Warriors varsity lacrosse team for 4 years, earning the right to be captain his senior year. After Warriors, Worth went on to VMI where he played 1 year on the varsity team and then 3 years on their club team. Just like his days at Warriors, Worth was selected captain his senior year.  Welcome back, Worth!

Jeff Newton - Jeff is in his first year with Warriors Lacrosse.  He has played for Geronimo before going to Benedicitine and Fork Union for High School. While in highschool Jeff was named team captain his sophmore, junior, and senior seasons.  Jeff then went on to play at Wingate University ini North Carolina for 2 years.  Welcome Jeff!


Vernon Howard - Vernon is in his first year with Warriors Lacrosse and a student at VCU. Vernon played lacrosse in high school at Sperry Senior High School in the lacrosse hotbed of Rochester, NY.  Vernon is very excited to teach this great game to the younger kids.  Welcome Vernon!




Middle School Girls

Matt Cross - Head Coach
Matt has been the driving force behind the West End girls program, and will be the first coach of the team.  Matt is also in his second season as varsity head coach for the Deep Run Wildcats.  In addition to his coaching experience, Matt also played club lacrosse in college.
